Seat to Sky Trail - Brandywine Falls to Whistler Bungee Bridge near WHISTLER, BC

This scenic, forested section of the Sea to Sky Trail takes you through basaltic lava flows where picturesque small ponds speckle the landscape. This trail is hike and bike friendly.

Distance: 5.4 km return
The distance from the Brandywine Falls Provincial Park parking lot to the Whistler Bungee Bridge is 2.7 km one way. 
 
The return trip is 5.4 km
 
For those looking for more of a challenge, it is possible to follow the Sea to Sky Trail to well beyond Whistler. 
 
Difficulty: Easy

Conditions to expect:

  • compact gravel surface
  • mostly gentle grades
  • a few steeper grades and tight corners
  • mulit-use trail so expect hikers and bikers

Sea to Sky Trail - Brandywine Falls to Whistler Bungee Bridge

Time: 2-3 hrs return

It is an approximately 2-3 hour round trip from Brandywine Falls Parking lot to Whistler Bungee Bridge on foot.

Biking is also permitted on the trail the return trip is approximately 45 minutes - 1.5 hours.

Elevation Change: 67m

The overall elevation change (from lowest point to highest point) is approximately 67 m

The elevation gain (one way) (the cumulative ups and downs over the course of the trail) is approximately 139 m

The maximum slope you will encounter is approximately 47%.

The average slope is about 8.5%.

High Point: 499 m

The high point of 499 m is at the Whistler Bungee Bridge (also known as Cheakamus Bungee Bridge)

Season: April - November

The Brandywine Falls Park gate is typically closed through the winter months.

The high point of this route is 499 metres so be aware of how low the snow line is if you're planning on going early in the spring or later in the fall.

Camping is not permitted in Brandywine Falls Provincial park.

There are picnic tables available in the day use area near the parking lot.

There is a gate which is locked between the hours of 11:00PM and 7:00AM. The gate is typically locked throughout the winter months.

Brandywine Falls Provincial Park near Whister, BC is a great place to hike, mountain bike, picnic or just enjoy the spectacular views of of the 70 metre waterfall, Daisy Lake and surrounding mountains.
 
The focus of this article is on the Sea to Sky Trail from Brandywine Falls parking lot to the Whistler Bungee Bridge however, it would be a travesty not to quickly point out the short detour to the viewing platform for Brandywine Falls.
 
This easy 1 km walk to the platform has minimal elevation gain and takes 10-15 minutes.

This is worth the detour for sure.
 
Go a little further along the groomed path and you’ll come to an area that looks out over Daisy Lake and the surrounding mountains.

OK, enough detours! Let’s get down to details of the Sea to Sky Trail - Brandywine Falls to Whistler Bungee Bridge.
 
This scenic, forested section of the Sea to Sky Trail takes you through Pleistocene age basaltic lava flows. The lava flows occurred over 13,000 years ago - which is not that long in geological terms. The young landscape hasn’t had time to erode and develop drainage systems, so potholes scattered across the lava fields have filled with water. These small ponds create a network of valuable wetlands.
 
This 5.4 km return trail is an easy trail along a compact gravel path with mostly gentle grades. That being said, there are a few steeper switchbacks to face.
 
It is a multi-use trail, so be prepared to share the trail with hikers and mountain bikers.

Brandywine Falls Provincial Park is 17 km (about 20 minutes) south of Whistler on Highway 99 and  is 42 km (about 30 minutes) north of Squamish on Highway 99

The parking lot is just off of the highway. Signage is pretty obvious

Expect a well maintained, compact gravel suface trail.
 
There will be a few steep sections and switchbacks.
